YIVO Receives Covenant Foundation's 2018 Signature Grant

YIVO is thrilled to be a recipient of the 2018 Signature Grant from the Covenant Foundation. This grant supports creative and innovative approaches to Jewish education. YIVO’s grant, which is for $95,000 over two years, will go towards the creation of its fourth online course in YIVO’s Shine Online Educational Series on the history of Jewish food, A Seat at the Table: A Journey of Jewish Food.

A Seat at the Table will bring together leading food scholars in conversation with chefs, cookbook authors, and food critics. It will feature filmed cooking demonstrations, downloadable recipes, and interactive learning modules, all integrated with food-related archival objects from the YIVO Archives. This will be a unique class that will be made available to schools, synagogues, cultural organizations, and individuals around the world who share a passion for food.
