About the Participants
Oksana Rosenblum has been freelancing as a visual researcher in the field of Jewish art and history since her graduation from JTS in 2005. Currently, she works for the Toronto-based Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter Initiative, focusing on the history of Jews in Ukraine. In her free time, Oksana studies Persian and Indian music.
Karen Gorst, calligrapher and manuscript illuminator, curated NYPL's "Three Faith Scriptorium." Her custom illuminations (gorststudio.com), acclaimed the best of New York in "Made in New York: Handcrafted works by Master Artisans," are currently in the collections of the Smithsonian, Trinity Church at Wall Street and in 2015, will be presented at the Morgan Library and Museum.
Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch, Ph.D. (musicology), is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, scholar, educator, and Yiddish activist. He is the founder and leader of the Litvakus and Minsker Kapelye klezmer bands. Over the years, Jewish music has remained the core of Dmitri's creative inspirations.
